Lake Ice Forming

Ice Forming by L.L. Kooyer

Ice is beginning to slowly form along the shorelines. The ice in this photo is along the west side of the lake, but it appeared there may have been a little more ice over on the east side.

During this past week groups of mallards, hooded mergansers,  trumpeter swans, and canadian geese graced Long Lake (apparently taking time out from traveling to wherever it is they go) but they were quite uncooperative about having their pictures taken.

Are we certain it's forming? I'd like it better if it was retreating and spring was just around the corner!
