The LLAA Foundation (LLAAF) uses donations to support projects that protect Long Lake, including aquatic invasive species (AIS) prevention and management, water quality monitoring, fisheries, and other long-term stewardship efforts.
Donations to the LLAAF are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Supporting AIS Inspections
Preventing invasive species before they enter Long Lake is our first and most effective line of defense.
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS), including starry stonewort and zebra mussels, pose an ongoing threat to Long Lake. Watercraft inspections at public accesses help prevent new invasive species from entering the lake and reduce the risk of further spread.
In 2026, the cost of watercraft inspections at Long Lake’s public accesses is approximately $27,500. The LLAA Foundation helps fund this important AIS prevention work through charitable donations.

Managing AIS in Long Lake

When prevention falls short, direct action is essential to protect Long Lake’s ecosystem.
The LLAA Foundation helps fund efforts to manage aquatic invasive species already present in Long Lake. This includes monitoring and management of starry stonewort and other invasive species in coordination with the Minnesota DNR and other partners.
Foundation support helps pay for permitted AIS management work and other efforts to reduce the impact of invasive species on Long Lake.
Lake Water Quality Monitoring
Water quality monitoring is essential for tracking the lake’s health. The LLAA Foundation helps support Long Lake’s long-term water quality monitoring program. Regular monitoring helps track changes in lake conditions over time and provides information that can guide future stewardship efforts.

Supporting Long Lake’s Fishery

The Minnesota DNR is responsible for managing Long Lake’s fishery and determining stocking plans. When appropriate and approved by the DNR, the LLAA Foundation helps fund supplemental walleye stocking to support the Long Lake fishery.
Your donation helps support these and other efforts to protect Long Lake.
