Our Mission & Priorities

Guiding our stewardship, advocacy, and community leadership

Our Mission

The Long Lake Area Association exists to protect the long-term health of Long Lake while supporting responsible shoreline stewardship and a strong lake community.

Official Mission Statement:

The LLAA facilitates and encourages cooperation and support of its Members in the enjoyment and preservation of Long Lake in Hubbard County, Minnesota. The LLAA disseminates educational information and sponsors activities about environmental stewardship, environmentally conscious shoreline, watershed, and property relevant to its Members. The LLAA communicates with all Long Lake property owners in support of its efforts to protect the health and future of Long Lake and acts as liaison to local, state, and federal agencies and other like associations and organizations.

Current Priorities

LLAA’s work is guided by member input, environmental data, and ongoing lake needs. Our current focus areas include:

Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention and Control
Supporting education, monitoring, and prevention efforts to reduce the risk of invasive species that threaten Long Lake’s ecosystem.

Lakeshore Management
Promoting environmentally responsible shoreline practices that protect habitat, reduce runoff, and preserve the lake’s natural character.

Water Quality
Encouraging water monitoring, data awareness, and stewardship practices that safeguard the long-term health and clarity of Long Lake.

Strategic goals are periodically reviewed and informed by member feedback, including the October 2024 Property Owner Survey. (see pdf of report here)
