Volunteers needed immediately with specialized interests or skills

Needed immediately :

  1. A person with some experience with posting on websites. Our new website uses WordPress.  The text will be written by our board or other volunteers but posting and managing the look of the pages would be the main job.
  2. A person who can manage our Facebook account by posting graphics, articles etc from the newsletter and sharing relevant information from DNR, MPR etc. on the Facebook

LLAA Identification of continuing Volunteers Needs

Communications committee works on communicating with our members with on going projects. The work is mainly done online.

  • Proofreaders/editors for monthly newsletter
  • Persons to assist in running the new website. (uses WordPress)
  • Manage social media, mainly Facebook
  • Maintain kiosks at the North and South Accesses

Community Committee has opportunities for several  small groups that will work on specific events. The planning is mainly done in the off season but the events are in the summer. The committee is always looking for new ideas for events. Currently we hold events such as annual meeting, flotilla etc.

Skills needed: 

  • To suggest other community building activities
  • To help organize/ plan
  • To engage people with our mission

Membership Committee works on increasing membership and helping with building community

This committee needs:

  • Roster manager
  • Dues tracker/manager :
  • Membership recruitment manager (includes email messaging; collaborate with neighborhoods)

Elections committee is a group that works mainly from January until the annual meeting when the elections results are announced

The committee needs:

  • Recruitment of Board of Directors nominees both directors and alternates.
  • Notification of election schedule in collaboration with Communications Committee
  • Ballot creation and tabulating

Environmental Stewardship Committee has several on going projects during the summer to monitor and report on AIS, and Loons.This is also new pilot program for Lake Stewardship that may need volunteers to help with shoreline survey etc.

  • AIS Monitoring (slots for 9 volunteers)
  • Attend training to learn to identify AIS and then monitor your neighborhood

Fisheries committee works to improve fishing in Long Lake.

  • One or two additional volunteers to expand our knowledge base
  • Help communicate between the DNR Fisheries and our members
  • Explore how the Fisheries committee and Environmental Committees can work together to improve fish habitat.
