My wife, Sandy, and I are full time residents on Long Lake.
I am a retired operations executive with Polaris Industries. We have 2 married children and 3 grandchildren. Our family has been enjoying Long Lake since 1996 when we purchased our first seasonal cabin. We built our home here in 2004 and are excited to call Long Lake home.
I hope to be involved in protecting the quality of our wonderful lake and will be working to protect our lake from AIS and increase active membership.

Stephanie and I live at 14146 Chippewa Loop, and are part time residents. Our home is in Nevada, Iowa. We have been coming to Long Lake for 50 years. Our four children and ten grandchildren spend lots of time, during all four seasons, on Long Lake. I am currently president of Rec-Chek, a software company serving community banks. I am also Chairperson of the Story County Hospital in Nevada, IA and serve on several boards of directors.
I hope to attend most meetings, and will focus on maintaining the quality of our beautiful lake. The family has installed a buffer zone this summer. The information on how to do this is posted the “Protect Your Lake Shore” page.

My Long Lake connection began at age 8 when my family bought a lot on Crystal Beach so we could begin experiencing what tourists traveled far to see in our Park Rapids vacationland. Long Lake summers as a kid were filled with water adventures like skiing, swimming, fishing, bouncing on inner tubes, plus catching and releasing frogs in races between all of us “Lais Girls” and the neighborhood kids.
I met my husband, Bob, at “the lake” as his family was just two doors down at the brown boathouse.
Racing activities have been replaced with cruising in the green boat, observing loons, eagles and herons, plus an occasional pelican in the late summer. I notice sunrises and sunsets, appreciating nature and the seasonal cycles even more. We’ve expanded our use of this lake we love with winter sports, too.

My wife, MaryDale, and I have been coming to Long Lake since 1989. Although we are still weekenders, we make it here most weekends. Our favorite seasons are spring, summer, fall, and winter.
Our cabin is on the very North end of Long Lake, and I represent Neighborhood 6. We live in Grand Forks where we were in the Automobile business for many years. We have three grown children and two grand children. Water quality, fishing quality, and membership are the issues that concern me.

I have been coming to Long Lake almost every summer since 1947. My wife, Joyce, and I live in Colorado. I am a retired Endodontist and my wife works with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
I have been the representative for neighborhood #4 since July, 2009.
I believe the AIS (aquatic invasive species) threat to Long Lake is at present the most important issue the LLAA need to address.

I first came to Long Lake in 1946. My dad purchased one lot with a small cabin on it in the late 1940's. Over time the lot next to the cabin and a lot behind the road were purchased. My wife, Jo, and I have enjoyed coming to the lake since 1965. In 2005 we, along with sons Scott and John and their families, replaced the old cabin with a new year-round home. Now, it is not just a summer retreat. Jo and I live in Des Moines, IA. I work for lowa Realty in sales and as a sales manager.
